Amazon carrier name, delivery service required from Feb 2021

From the 2nd of February 2021, Amazon will require the carrier name and delivery service used to be entered for items you ship directly to customers on the Amazon Merchant Fulfillment channel. There will also be a requirement to enter a tracking number where one is available.

Amazon say that not adding these details no only improves the customer experience but also helps protect your account health metrics. Providing a tracking ID helps reduce order defect rate and is taken in consideration in any relevant A-Z claims. Moreover, providing the right carrier name and delivery service is essential for sharing the tracking information to customers and is more likely to reduce negative seller feedback from customers.

Currently, entering the delivery service is optional during ship confirm and entering the carrier name is optional when using bulk feeds or Integrators for ship confirm. Beginning on Tuesday the 2nd of February 2021, Amazon will require you to provide the carrier name and the delivery service during the Ship Confirm process of Seller-fulfilled orders. Without this information, you will not be able to ship confirm your order. Delay in ship confirming orders may lead to increase in Late Shipment Rate which may lead to account suspension.

Amazon will automatically cancel orders if seven days have passed since the expected shipping availability date and you have not yet shipped and confirmed the shipment.

Frankly even though entering the carrier name, delivery service and (if available) the tracking number is currently optional, it’s a surprise that some sellers don’t already provide this information to their customers. There are plenty of automated solutions both full blown multichannel management solutions and standalone shipping integrations and parcel booking sites that will all upload this information automatically. If you’re using such a solution, in most cases, it’s impossible to automatically mark and order as despatched without the carrier details being uploaded and who wants to make orders as despatch manually?

If the solutions that you use don’t already automatically upload carrier name, delivery service and tracking numbers to Amazon, speak to your solution provider and if they can’t help it might be time to consider an alternative before February arrives.
