Amazon invite military talent to join their teams

Amazon have launched a new recruitment program, Amazon Military EMEA, a talent pool that allows Military Leavers or Veterans to register their interest in working for the ecommerce giant.

According to Amazon, the talent pool will offer military talent the opportunity to innovate and solve real-world, complex technical and business problems in their fast-paced and continually evolving environment. They have various career opportunities available for women and men who have served in the Military Forces and will also be recruited by veterans already working with Amazon.

“We actively seek leaders who can invent, think big, have a bias for action and deliver results on behalf of our customers. These principles look very familiar to men and women who have served our country in the armed forces, and we find that their experience leading people is invaluable in our fast-paced work environment.”
– Jeff Bezos

Amazon says that the ideal candidate is someone wanting to work in an environment that will challenge them to relentlessly improve the Amazon experience for their customers, where each day is different from the next, and learning never truly ends.

“As an infantry officer I had 16 months of training before I was even allowed near a soldier. In Amazon I was running a shift within a few weeks of joining. Our training mantra is ‘learn by doing’ and we realize that the fastest way to learn a job is by doing the job. It takes a while to get used to feeling slightly out of your depth, but you quickly notice that there is a whole support network around you that will give you some freedom, but won’t let you fail.”
